Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.

How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

US Army TSGT World War 2 Peter Sanzo was born on 13 April 1922 and served as an Army Tank Mechanic and driver in the 378th Infantry Regiment, 95th Division. He enlisted in 1940 and served four years, from November 42 - to November 45. After Bootcamp, Peter was initially assigned to serve as a Colonel’s aide, managing his affairs while deployed. Peter recalled once knowing where a champagne factory was in the town they were occupying and hauling over 150 gallons of champagne back to the Colonel's quarters. Peter arrived at Utah Beach in Normandy, France, on 18 June 1944, 12 days after D-Day. He also served in the North of France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes, and Central Europe. Peter’s most unforgettable memory was on 11 August 1944 in Bracey, France. His unit took heavy fire from the German Luftwaffe, who dropped everything from anti-personnel to 500-pound bombs. The unit later learned that the entire Company would have been decimated if all the bombs the Germans dropped had exploded. During his third year in Europe at the German and French Maginot line, he was pinned down in a wet foxhole for three days, taking heavy fire. Peter caught double pneumonia, which resulted in his being pulled from the line and hospitalized. He never returned to the front lines after that event. Peter remembered a very emotional story about his friend Byron, another tank driver, and his untimely death from an accident in Nuremberg after hostilities had completed when they were moving damaged tanks from the front lines. Peter was married for 72 years to Adeline Sanzo, and they had three children.
