Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.


How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

US Army PFC World War 2 Mr. Gordon Stayboldt was born in 1924 and served in the US Army with the Signal Corps. Gorgon joined after graduating High School during World War 2, enlisting on July 2, 1943, in his hometown of Los Angeles, CA. He reported to Boot Camp for his initial training and then reported to technician training, where he learned to serve as a Radar Systems Analyst deciphering the signals of modern radar. Gordon worked with the coastal defense forces and was stationed at the Consolidated B-24 Liberator bomber factories in Long Beach, California, at Douglas Aircraft. This plant was alongside the airport for testing and eventual delivery fly-offs of what is today the Long Beach City Airport. During World War 2, the aircraft industry and defense facilities surrounded working airfields. Gordon maned one of the coastal defense radar stations that watched for enemy aircraft, keeping ever vigilant after the dreaded attack on Pearl Harbor. These radar stations were defensive platforms built on coastal hilltops up and down the California coastline. These radar stations were linked together to form a defensive barrier and were manned around the clock by Army soldiers. Gordon remembered most often standing 12-hour shifts for months on end. Gordon was released from service at the end of World War 2.
