FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where can I donate?

I have created a way to accept donations to grow the project, use the WWII Veterans Portrait Series Go Fund Me.

Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.

How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

United States Cadet Nurse Corps  Nurse World War 2 This is the lovely Mrs. Mary “Sunny” Solomon.  Sunny is a Veteran of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps (CNC). She began her 5-year training program in 1942 after High School graduation at the Los Angeles Lutheran Hospital. Today's hospital is called the California Hospital Medical Center in Downtown Los Angeles.  The purpose of the Cadet Nurse Corps was to alleviate the nursing shortage that existed before and during World War 2. The program was open to all women between the ages of 17 and 35 who were in good health and had graduated from an accredited High School. Sonny enjoyed the training, but the study took lots of work. The war ended before her training was complete, but all members of the Cadet Nurse Corps drilled daily and worked during their training in rehabilitation hospitals. She and her crew helped rehabilitate service members wounded in combat operations. Sunny graduated from this training after the war and became a nurse. She specialized in Obstetrics and was fortunate to record the footprints of baby Linda Susan Agar, the child of movie stars Shirley Temple and John Agar. She worked most of her Nursing career in Los Angeles.
