FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where can I donate?

I have created a way to accept donations to grow the project, use the WWII Veterans Portrait Series Go Fund Me.

Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.

How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

US Army SGT World War 2 Chuck Muler served in the US Army Engineer Corps and was promoted to Sergeant.  Chuck was drafted after graduating from SDSU in 1942.  He served with an Aircraft Engineering battalion during the D-Day campaign with the aviation engineers of the newly created IX Engineer Command.  Chuck was stationed at RAF Stansted, England, training for the invasion. The coming campaign would require a different skill set than the Africa campaign. The removal of German mines and booby traps, the quick build-out of landing fields in available farm fields for fighters and transports, sometimes laying portable landing mats where the wet ground would not support the heavy aircraft and the repair of captured airfields. SGT Muler and his five-man recon team landed on Utah Beach on day ten of Operation Overlord.  Chuck and his team moved ahead of the unit to find and secure areas where the engineers could build airfields and all of the supporting equipment that would be moved up as the front advanced. His Unit built airfields across Europe and into Germany for more than 18 months, keeping new airfields close to the ever-moving battlefront across Europe.  Chuck can’t remember how many airfields they built, but he knows they moved the camp over 20 times. SGT Muler completed his service in Nov 1945. Chuck and Annie Muler, Hospital Corpsman Third Class Petty Officer, were married for 68 years. They met in school before the war and married before Chuck shipped to England.
