FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where can I donate?

I have created a way to accept donations to grow the project, use the WWII Veterans Portrait Series Go Fund Me.

Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.

How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

US Navy SN World War 2 Ted Sundquist grew up in Panama. His family lived in Panama while his dad worked on the Panama Canal project. Ted Graduated from High School and joined the US Navy, returning to the United States. He attended boot camp at Naval Training Center San Diego, became a Seaman, and primarily served as a helmsman. The helmsman or helm is the person who steers a ship. The mate or other officer on the bridge directs the helmsman aboard merchant or Navy ships. While onboard his first ship, Ted was training to be a Quartermaster at the end of his service. The Quartermasters assist the Navigator and Officer of the Deck (OOD) onboard naval vessels. They steer the ship, take radar bearings, plot courses, and log and chart the ship's activities wheel underway. Ted liked the Quartermaster because, as an enlisted man, he could command the ship's small craft. Ted was assigned at his last duty station to the US Army transport Y-36, a 174 ft Oil Tanker that supplied Aircraft gas, aka avgas, to their supported units. Ted drove the vessel and got to be in charge of his craft.
