FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where can I donate?

I have created a way to accept donations to grow the project, use the WWII Veterans Portrait Series Go Fund Me.

Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.

How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

US Navy PhM3 World War 2 Howard Reddy was born on 22 Oct 1925 and served as a Pharmacist's Mate in the Navy. He was drafted in 1944 and served two years, from Jan 3rd, 1944, to June 6th, 1946. During Bootcamp in Farragut, Idaho, he became very ill, but he powered through the weather and was sick, not wanting to wash out. Howard reported to training at the hospital in Farragut and learned basic Naval Corpsman skills. He trained as a Physical therapist to deal with injuries to service members at the Naval Hospital in Oakland, Ca. for six weeks and graduated 3rd in his class with a pick of orders and reported to Lee Field Naval Air Station, Green Cove, Florida, where pilots trained for landing operations on aircraft carriers during World War 2. Some accidents required Howard's skills in physical therapy to get back into the cockpit or even just on with their life. Here Howard also served duty on the airfield crash crew. This duty was occasionally very arduous, one time requiring him to accompany the body of a pilot back home to his family. Howard later worked at the Naval Hospital, NAS Miami, burn center, experiencing some tough times assisting the wounded, but he loved when the Marines called him “Doc.” In Miami, he was promoted to PhM3 Petty Officer 3rd Class. Post-war, Howard used his GI bill to return to school and became a teacher and coach in Aitkin, Minnesota, coaching basketball and football. Howard married Patricia, and they had three children, Daniel, Kent, and Eileen, who brought Howard to the studio.
