FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where can I donate?

I have created a way to accept donations to grow the project, use the WWII Veterans Portrait Series Go Fund Me.

Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.

How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

US Navy AM1 World War 2 Ted Stevenson served in the US Navy for six years, from March 1942 - March 48. Ted attended Recruit Training Command “boot camp” and then Class "A" Technical School for nine weeks before being assigned as an apprentice Aviation Structural Mechanic. Ted served his first tour on active duty onboard Naval Air Station Alameda, CA. in the San Fransisco area with one of 69 Carrier Aircraft Service. Carrier Aircraft Service Units were United States Navy units formed during World War II for the Pacific War to support naval aircraft operations. From 1942 to 1946, 69 Carrier Aircraft Service Units were formed to repair and maintain aircraft. These units also supported training maintainers and pilots for aircraft career operations without the ship. Some of these units were stationed overseas on captured airfields. Ted rose to the rank of AM1 Aviation Structural Mechanics Petty Officer First Class.  Aviation Structural Mechanics maintain and repair all aircraft structural components, from the cockpit control panels to the landing gear and everything in between. Ted transferred to the Recruit Training Center in San Diego service as a Company Commander (CC) for a second tour. The company commander instructs his recruits how to keep themselves, their clothing, their equipment, and their living quarters smart and ship-shaped while he leads them in military and physical drills to gain military proficiency and physical stamina. Ted also helps recruits to exercise increasing amounts of individual and group responsibility as they grow in the qualities of self-discipline necessary to carry out the exacting routines of life as sailors of the United States Navy. After this tour, AM1 Ted Stevenson left the service to repenter civilian life.
